i would LOVE to share this with all my clients and friends, so, if you are sick of the snow we received today and would like to get photographed for the ribbon cutting, come to the studio at 10! address is: 306 1st ave ne…between year round brown and county fair foods.
i am so excited about finally having the studio decorated — this has truly been a labor of love. i have to give a HUGE thank you to andrew gassman and randy schliesman. both of them have worked with me the last few days and have given 110% to see this get finished.

tomorrow night is the artist reception and the introduction of ‘where the wind blows’ art, and then the general open house is saturday from 10am-2pm.

Just want to get it out here first, as always, but a heads up that we will be having the ribbon cutting for the new studio at 306. 1st. ave ne on Friday, February 27th at 10 am. we would love to have any and all of our clients and fans to come and join us at that time! this has been a long time coming, and i really would love to share it with you all.
friday evening from 6:30-9:30 will be an artist reception. this is to introduce ‘where the wind blows’ art to the area. this is my fine art photography and some paintings. things i think most people DON’T know that i do! i am looking forward to sharing my art and just enjoying what i hope to be ‘a new york art gallery’ vibe for that evening. this is truly an adult evening…
then on saturday, february 28 we will be having our general open house. this is for kids too! there will be yummies to enjoy, goodies to give away, and drawings for prints, sessions, etc. the time is from 10am-2pm.
we would LOVE to see you!!

just a reminder that i’m off to vegas until thursday feb. 19! i’m attending the WPPI convention that is part of the prize package i won with the best of images competition. i am so excited! not only will i get to attend some awesome classes taught by world class photographers, it’s also my birthday! i can’t imagine a better time–hanging with others that love photography as much as i do, mind melding creative time, and good friends. this is going to be a great quick trip!
obviously, while i’m gone the studio is closed. please know that i will do my best to return all emails and phone calls on friday feb. 20 when i return.

2009 seniors-time to order announcements!

just a reminder that we are now working with those 2009 seniors that wish to order custom graduation announcements. we will order announcements up until april 1, 2009–that is the deadline!
the process is:
1. call for your design appointment. we will sit down and go through images and design elements and custom design your announcement with you.
2. heather will email you the proof. at that time, please look it over VERY closely for any changes.
3. off to lab it goes!
4. when they arrive a VERY SHORT TIME later then we call you and they can be shipped or picked up.
soooo easy!
announcements come in 3 different sizes, 2 different styles, and have 3 paper choices…so, lots of options to make sure you have the announcement that speaks to your specific style and taste.

LE Schedule:
March 24-28: Vintage Easter
Beautiful dresses, easter suits–done in yummy warm vintage tones, reminiscent of years past…this LE will be great for children of all ages, and definitely suited to multiple children. Highlight your images on custom designed 4×5 authentic styled vintage postcards (envelopes available too).
April 14-18: Tough Guys
this LE makes me smile…designed especially for the boys! dress your tough guy in the all american white tank or t, jeans, and we have a ’special’ item to add to their wardrobe (think ed hardy design). this is ALL about being a boy, but mom…we need to sneak you in for a few too…so, be prepared to join your guy. these images will rock as a series…look for a special concept wall grouping just for this LE.
May 12-16: Daddy’s Girl
It would only be fair to share equal love for the dads…this is all about the little girl that melts every dad’s heart. this LE is designed to highlight daddy’s girl, but we need ‘parts’ of dad to be in the image…it’s all about the ‘big and little’, the ’soft and rough’, all the opposites of daddy’s and girls–but make the relationship so endearing. a special dad’s desk gift is the perfect way to show your favorites to co-workers.
June 9-13: Hall of Fame
as we go into summer and all the sports–this is a great time to create an artistic black and white of your athlete. think sports illustrated comes to watertown! have your child pick their favorite sport and lets create a phenominal black and white study. a specially designed ’skinny’ will one of the product offerings–as well as a hall of fame stat pass for each athlete photographed.
July 20-25: the retro sessions evening times only!
i started playing with this idea last year, but this year we will do a different retro session each week in july. these sessions are done in the beautiful evening light…usually around 7pm. all of these center around kids being kids…imagination is the key. look for more details as we get closer…but these sessions go QUICKLY and i can only photograph 2-3 sessions each week. perfect for matilda jane clothing, sun dresses, boden for boys…
August 22, 24, 29, 31: Urban princess meets Skater Boy
designed to be funky and edgy…perfect for the tween that wants to show some personality, but not so ‘old or edgy’ that it would be inappropriate for the age–think cool boots, scarves, hats, rocker gear–you name it, it’s totally about the personality and the age. special exchange cards feature the images that they think are the coolest and want to share with their friends. not JUST for tweens, awesome for any age school kids.
September 8-11: the anti school pictures
who wants the same old same old?!! let’s do some great mini sessions featuring each of your children individually. session will include 2 backgrounds and special portrait packaging to allow sharing with friends and family.
October 13-17: Believe Angels
truly one of our most popular limited editions. ’believe’ embodies the beauty of the holiday season in warm rich tones and beautiful gold wings. can be done with children individually and in pairs. this session books out MONTHS in advance, so please do not wait very long to book your session. the packages include our custom christmas cards.
November 10-14: Polar Express
what can i say? introduced this last year, it was so popular that we ended up extending it another week. this 9 foot tall train encompasses all the magic and excitement of the book. we will be adding a ‘new’ part just for this year–shhh…gotta keep it quiet for a bit longer! just know that this was another quickly booking LE, and i have people already asking if we will be doing it again. i have no doubt that this will be MORE popular than last year. again, we will be packaging our beautiful custom christmas cards with this LE.
December 22-24, 29-31: Home for the Holidays
it says it all…everyone is home, take advantage of that time! whether your preference is casual, traditional, fun, or crazy–let kallhoff portrait document your family as they are–or maybe how you WISH your family was! special reprint pricing will be available so that all can have a special print to take home with them.

just a reminder–the studio will be closed feb. 16-feb. 19th. i will be in las vegas to attend wppi and to meet and pick up prizes from the ‘best of images’ competition. i was honored and humbled to be named as the winner of the fine art category for ‘new orleans blues’.
hopefully this won’t cause too many issues for you the clients. i will be open for business on friday feb. 20.

Time to release our limited edition schedule!

i get so many calls asking if i can share what the next LE will be…and i’ve been holding off, trying to tie up some loose ends on some new exciting ideas. i finally have it all nailed down. most of these limited editions are best suited for children over the age of 1.
I love bringing brand new ideas to watertown and the limited editions (LE) are one way I like to do it. I have some exciting innovative ideas to share with you. If you would like to be part of something ORIGINAL this is the place to come! Look through this years creative, bar raising LE ideas. Dates will be announced in a few days, but i wanted to give you a chance to think about what feels most like your family and children. remember that with our limited editions they happen for one week just one time a year. with each limited edition we try to create a ’special product or offering’ that can only be gotten with THAT LE.

so many changes!

i have to laugh…the clients that come for their session are always surprised at how many things change when they come back to view their images or place their order. i enjoy seeing the excitement on their faces–it’s been fun.
all of the changes are due to the final conclusion of the studio move. it’s been quite a journey, but, i’m so thrilled at where the studio has been and what it is now. it is a wonderfully warm inviting space, and i am totally in love with the imagery that has gone up.
the big push is that february 27th. is our ribbon cutting at 10am. if you are in the area…i’d love to see you and have you be a part of our ‘official’ move to the uptown watertown community. later that evening from 6:30-9:30 will be my first solo exhibition and introduction of ‘where the wind blows art’–my fine art works. come view works on canvas and hannemuhl, enjoy some wine and tasty treats, grab a swag bag, and hopefully you will find a special piece of art that speaks to you and you take it home with you!
my piece, ‘new orleans blues’ the winning image for the fine art category of ‘best of images’ competition will also be on display, and one lucky person will win a giclee of it.
if you are unable to make it to the evening affair, i will also be having a general open house on saturday, february 28th from 10-2pm.
