Lisa Lounsbrough sent me the following information on the Watertown Art Festival Youth Competition. They are excited to continue to promote the arts in Watertown and the surrounding areas…this is a WONDERFUL opportunity for all kids to share their talent and to also potentially win some prizes!!

a friend let me know of this video on youtube about an incredible autistic boy from new york…
to say it brought me to tears, would be an understatement. i taught special needs for 11 years, and while it was tough, the moments like the one on youtube made it all worth it. i never had a student perform quite to this level, but the small victories felt just as sweet.

ahhh, usually i try to find a little visual inspiration to start my week, and i share that with you…
do you remember the definition of opus magnum?
opus magnum: is simply “a great work” rather than “the great work” of someone specific. A masterpiece may be small, short or slight, but still highly successful. An opus magnum may be generally regarded as a failure.
well today’s inspiration is that i have FINALLY gotten the old studio cleaned out and moved to the new studio! (not the atrium-that will have to wait for the spring thaw). i have hired a couple of guys to help me move the rest of my personal things out of the old house, and i will be DONE.
whether i view this as a failure, and in some ways it was, or a success, which it also was, seems to go with the moment…but for now, i will consider it to be success! i will follow it up with a picture tonite if i get time.

Italy Escape 2009
Join Heather on this 7 night trip to beautiful Italy! This 8 person adventure will travel to the Tuscan and Umbria regions of Italy to experience the sites, sounds, art, and culture of this amazing land. We will be going to San Galgano, Assisi, Norcia–and many other incredible cities, as well as visiting a famous winery for a wine tasting…

i am selling my workhorse 24 inch wide printer. this is a FABULOUS printer…does rolls and flat sheets up to 24 inches wide. my christmas present to me was a 44 inch wide printer, making this printer no longer needed!! it uses the vivera inks…which are up to 200 year museum grade.
i used this to print studio samples (canvas and photographic), as well as brochures (our circle of life brochure) and many many other things.
this machine has been impecably serviced locally, and comes with a nearly full set of inks.
would prefer pick up of machine, but will ship if needed. shipping and insurance will be additional and will be priced to the zipcode it ships too.

magnum opus monday!

i was sick last monday…so, bad me…i failed to get some monday inspiration up…
today’s inspiration is robert burridge painter…
first, a few images:
i have been able to take a painting class with jennifer stone, who has studied with robert…and she has encouraged me to also take a class with him this summer (i have paid my deposit!!). in the meantime i have purchased a few of his painting videos–he is a PHENOMINAL teacher…but more..i love his energy and spirit.
his abstracts are stunning, but honestly, i’m in love with his trees…
