WHS graduation

May 25, 2008 | Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment

today is the big day for those graduates of watertown high school!  congrats graduates, you have such an exciting adventure ahead of you…enjoy today, and really push the boundaries for the future!

we will once again be in the cafeteria of the high school starting cap and gown pictures at 11:30 today.  we will have extra forms with us, in the event that you have lost yours, or you simply forgot it!  the cap and gown pictures are photographed on a backdrop, and are simply a more formal portrait of your graduate.

as always, we will photograph everyone crossing the stage for graduation, and you have the opportunity to purchase those pictures as well.  do remember, we only print images that have been purchased!

ALL IMAGES WILL BE PRIORITY MAILED OUT…

we still have images from last year, that even after NUMEROUS calls and requests to have them picked up, still sit here.  so, for shear convenience sake (considering gas and busy lives) we will be mailing these out.  to cover the costs of mailing, there will be a $5.00 priority mail fee.

your images will arrive to you in about 3 weeks after graduation, so be checking your mailboxes for those then.

again, congratulations to the class of 2008…we look forward to great and amazing things from you!

More on the Goss Opera House

May 18, 2008 | Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment

if you haven’t driven down kemp lately, then you haven’t been aware of ALL the changes to the goss and the bank building (formerly known as the Kids Depot)…

first…doors have been removed in an ongoing renovation to take the building back to its’ original facade.

second…THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS!  daily there are more volunteers who have jumped in to assist with the push for the opening on june 1st of the Bodies Human!  Chuck Sherman, Bob Nichols, and Dave Johnson got the third floor of the bank building primed and painted, as well as getting the first floor bank building primed.

Janet, Ruth, Lisa, and others whose names have slipped my mind (but whose efforts have NOT) worked hard to get the basement cleared of  stuff and swept and cleared for inventory to be brought down.

Bob has ridden his bike down daily and constantly stays on top of ALL the sweeping that never seems to end!

and then there is Becky and Jake, a couple of high schoolers that are willing to jump in on any project asked…

a BIG THANK YOU TO YOU ALL!

we are down to the final week and a half before the ‘bodies’ arrive, and we STILL need more volunteers!  if you are wanting to have a hand in priming/painting/or anything else, we would GREATLY APPRECIATE any and all efforts!

again, PLEASE, just show up in work clothes and shoes (no flip flops please), and see lynn, randy, or myself, and we can put you to work for sure!

this is the last week that i will be at the opera house full time…then i’m back to getting our sets finished and back to photography!  after all this construction, it has made me appreciate my photography job more and more…i’m not built for sanding floors, scraping floors, and wallpaper…lol!!

rumors and the Goss Opera House

May 13, 2008 | Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment

ohh, i love living in the midwest!  it always makes me laugh at how curious we all are, and how so many fun ‘rumors’ begin…

first rumor to dispel:

NO, WE ARE NOT CLOSING THE STUDIO

i think because my vehicle is seen uptown so often in front of the opera house, that some may have begun to think i have closed my studio.  THIS IS NOT TRUE!  quite the opposite…i have been so lucky to have gotten the opportunity to photograph the opera house pre-renovation through now.  it has been incredibly interesting to see the transformation…i can’t wait for the public to see the many awesome changes for themselves.

the truth:

Kallhoff Portrait WILL have an office on the third floor of the opera house!

in an effort to make things more convenient for our clients, we will ( as soon as i have it finished!) be moving our orders/pickups/consultations to the third floor of the opera house.  my hope is that this will help you all in saving gas in not having to drive out to the studio for that, as well, it will give you the opportunity to see the fantastic opera house!

——————-

phewwwww…so glad to have that over!

now, a plea for help and assistance…

the Goss Opera  House will be hosting the Bodies Human in 2 weeks…we are DESPERATELY looking for volunteers to help  in the general cleanup of the building.  this is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in the renovation phase without having to have contractor or general building knowledge.

if you are willing to volunteer:

please contact lynn at the Goss Opera House at 882-9882   OR just show up in work clothes and we will put you to work!  we will take any amount of time you have to donate to this grand building and the upcoming exhibit.

i will be working there solidly for the next 2 weeks, and then it will be time for me to finish up my sets (stinky weather is driving me nuts), and then it’s straight into weddings and seniors for me.

ok, back to working on graphics and some super cool stuff for the opera house…

hope to see some of you there in the next week or so,

watertown high school graduation

May 9, 2008 | Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment

yes, we will be photographing watertown’s graduation on may 25.

i will be attending the commencement practice, and the forms will be sent home with your student
that day.  you are able to return the form to the high school principal’s office with your check, or, if your
student does not make it home with the form, we will have more with us on that sunday.

5×7’s will be $12 + 5$ priority mail shipping.

WE ARE NOT HAVING PEOPLE PICK THEM UP AT THE STUDIO because they NEVER get picked up!!  it is so sad.  people pay for the images in advance, we call, and they are still here.  i believe we still have over 20 from last years’ class.

with gas as expensive as it is…we will ONLY be having them priority mailed to you…save your gas money and your time…let’s make it easy on everyone!

thanks for understanding,

heather

seniors and sets

May 9, 2008 | Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment

are booking and being built…it’s a CRAZY time at kallhoff portrait!

the phone is RINGING OFF THE HOOK with seniors and making their appointments for the summer…love this time of year!  we are over half way booked to our limit of 80 seniors this year, so, if you haven’t gotten your appointment, you may want to get on our books asap.

i get so excited about all of our new sets, and can’t wait to start being creative with the new class of 2009…

i’ve gotten 3 new sets built and created, and am in process on another.  this weather IS putting a kink into getting things to go as quickly as i’d like, but, i have huge hopes to be done with potentially 2 more sets by the end of next week.

we got ‘the back porch’ finished, our princess room is done, a third set is painted, and we have another set off to be polycoated.   then kelli and i will be painting and getting the 4×4’s set outside for this set to attach to.  i can’t wait…

you know, clients ask, why do we go to such an effort building/creating new sets EVERY YEAR!?  and the answers are easy…because…i get bored…why would i want everyone’s pictures to look the same…AND…i am able to GUARANTEE that NO ONE ELSE has our sets…i create them myself!

these are not purchased out of some photographer’s supply catalog…not that that is bad, but, really…i don’t like being like EVERYONE else…it’s that simple…

anyway, here is a sneak peak at what we have completed so far…
