caitlin’s sneak peek!

June 21, 2009 | Filed Under general information, senior portraits | Leave a Comment

caitlin was our last senior session for last week…and you know what…she was the perfect way to end the week!  so much fun, a natural beauty–

again, we had a blast traveling to some great locations and shooting at the studio…i love her images!

dsc_9764rbwdsc_9795rquickadjdsc_9817rdsc_9861rvintgoldtextdsc_9874rvintbwgolddsc_9926rquickadj

last week was so much fun–i truly am happiest when i am photographing and exploring with clients.  thanks to all my sessions last week–you all had great energy and spirit!

just a reminder…this entire week i will be closed to attend a phenominal workshop by the painter robert burridge.  it is being held at the LATI, so i will be in town, but will NOT be at the studio.  i will be checking email and returning calls each evening.

i’m really looking forward to advancing my creativity through a different medium!

it’s been a bit…

April 27, 2009 | Filed Under general information, senior portraits | Leave a Comment

since the last post…busy busy busy at the studio.  just the way i like it.

since finishing the perfectly dressed girl model search, we went into ‘tough guys’, biz headshots, and some boudoir.  it’s been crazy busy, and i LOVE IT!

i have been getting our new senior sets and locations secured for the class of 2010.  i am so excited about what we are going to do.  it’s tough sometimes when there are so many photographers in uptown watertown, but instead of looking at that in a negative way, it spurs my competitive side.  it’s definitely time to take my photography to the next level.

i have come up with a whole new group of sets for our ‘anti-atrium’, secured a couple of ’secret’ locations that NO ONE has yet to have shot in…come up with some cool lighting…this is going to be a PHENOMINAL year!!  cool kids, rockin new sets, who could ask for more??!!

we are booking now for the 2010 senior class, and as always, we only take a TOTAL of 100 seniors.  we are well on our way–so, if you are planning on kallhoff portrait for your session, don’t wait TOO long.  august is always the most popular month–if that’s when you want to get in, i would SERIOUSLY get on the books SOON.  if you want to get some free stuff, seek out our senior models…if you aren’t sure who they are, just go to my facebook page senior page and check out the senior model page.  they have rep cards with an offer on them!

if you’ve decided kallhoff portrait is where to book, you can either contact me at the studio, 605-886-8858, or you can always go to our online books, and book that way.

have an incredible monday…i’ll post some images from tough guy later today-they were SO cute!

the response to voting is OVERWHELMING!! good job all…

April 11, 2009 | Filed Under Uncategorized, general information, perfectly dressed girl | Leave a Comment

i am so excited for these little girls.  it is obvious that friends and family are super supportive and are doing a fantastic job in getting the ‘vote’ out there!

just a couple things to remember…only one ip address can vote, SO, if you are passing this to friends and family at the SAME BUSINESS…odds on, you all are on the SAME ip address.  not a problem, just remember to vote from home!

second thing…some of you are leaving comments listing the first and last name of the child in your comment.  PLEASE, FOR SAFETY, do not do that!  these are minor children, and by putting first and last name, along with their picture online, we are creating a situation that is not safe.  unfortunately in this day and age, the internet does have some shady characters that COULD use that information in a harmful way.  so, please, feel free to leave comments to support your ‘favorite’ but do leave their names off of that comment. i’m sure you can understand my concern!

next, if you are new to kallhoff portrait and our work…just a few links for you.

facebook:

main page for me…heather\’s page

link for high school senior page… senior page

link for kids page… kids page

join as a fan, and that will keep in you the loop on all the latest and greatest happenings here!

lastly–KEEP VOTING!  this will run until MIDNIGHT APRIL 19, with the winner being announced HERE on monday APRIL 20.

We LOVE portrait work!!

March 18, 2009 | Filed Under general information | Leave a Comment

in the past week, i’ve had two clients ask if i am still doing portrait work…YES is the emphatic answer!!  i am STILL doing portraits–we are as busy as ever.  heck, i just opened my first commercial location–i am geared up for new and fun sessions!!

i DID launch a NEW BUSINESS that is my fine art work…but, that is NOT replacing the existing Kallhoff Portrait studio.  i  have been blessed to be able to speak around the country, visiting incredible locations, as well as traveling to europe a couple of different times.  in those travels, i was able to create some beautiful art…and that is what the new business is all about.  not replacing the existing business, but complimenting it with home decor and art originals.  the new business goes under the name and brand of ‘where the wind blows’ art.

So, just to clarify– we are still doing portraits!!  i love love love photographing people…and will continue to explore that creative avenue that built the business.  having said that, we do LIMIT THE NUMBER OF SENIORS that we photograph to 100…that is the ONLY limitation we have ever put on our portrait sessions.

If you are one of those that have heard anything different, please feel free to correct it!  we are happily OPEN FOR PORTRAIT WORK and accepting new clients daily.

have a great wednesday and thanks all for your continued support of kallhoff portrait!

THANK YOU all for making my artist reception and open house such a fun occasion!

i just have to stop today and thank you all that attended (and those that couldn’t that sent messages and flowers) the ribbon cutting, artist reception, and open house this weekend for the new studio.  this has most definitely been a labor of love in completing the studio and in preparing to show my most personal work; my paintings and fine art photography, and is a HUGE relief that it was well received!

i do need to thank some specific people who, without them, this COULD NOT have come off in the beautiful smooth manner that it did.

first:  krishy…THANK YOU for getting up at the crack of nothing to make the 3 hour drive to be here to help hold the ribbon, and just help celebrate the renaissance of the studio.  you are truly my creative sistah, and i really love you for who you are, as well as your creative spirit and passion.

secondly:  phyllis wiles–girl, what do i say?  EVERYTHING you do is done with such attention to detail and creativity.  my hors d’oeuvres were nothing less than spectacular, your pinache and style…wow.  i know that if i EVER plan an event (brides-listen carefully to this) YOU would be the ONLY one to coordinate and plan it.  you allowed me to be able to relax and enjoy this instead of stressing over all the details that i have absolutely no talent in!  thank you…my success was your success.

and finally:  randy schliesman and andrew gassman–guys–thank you for not bailing on me while my stress levels were climbing.  you guys hung in there, stretching canvas, building the frames, cleaning, moving, running a thousand places–anything that was needed.  THANK YOU…andrew you are a GREAT kid…and randy, i just owe you.  thanks guys.

and to the clients who have been patiently waiting all last week for me to work their images or to follow up on some special requests…thank you.  i really appreciate the support and time you allowed me to get the weekend events taken care of in the manner i really wanted them done.  i will get your things out to you this week…i PROMISE!

:)

i am just so happy.  thank you all for the kind comments on my work…you humbled me immensely.

GRAND OPENING EVENTS of the new studio will be FRIDAY and SATURDAY!

February 25, 2009 | Filed Under Uncategorized, artist reception, fine art, general information | Leave a Comment

Just want to get it out here first, as always, but a heads up that we will be having the ribbon cutting for the new studio at 306. 1st. ave ne on Friday, February 27th at 10 am.  we would love to have any and all of our clients and fans to come and join us at that time!  this has been a long time coming, and i really would love to share it with you all.

friday evening from 6:30-9:30 will be an artist reception.  this is to introduce ‘where the wind blows’ art to the area.  this is my fine art photography and some paintings.  things i think most people DON’T know that i do!  i am looking forward to sharing my art and just enjoying what i hope to be ‘a new york art gallery’ vibe for that evening.  this is truly an adult evening…

then on saturday, february 28 we will be having our general open house.  this is for kids too!  there will be yummies to enjoy, goodies to give away, and drawings for prints, sessions, etc.  the time is from 10am-2pm.

we would LOVE to see you!!

please pass the word on either or both events to any that you think would enjoy coming.

hope to see you there!!

i’m out of here for a few days!

February 15, 2009 | Filed Under Uncategorized, general information | Leave a Comment

just a reminder that i’m off to vegas until thursday feb. 19!  i’m attending the WPPI convention that is part of the prize package i won with the best of images competition.  i am so excited!  not only will i get to attend some awesome classes taught by world class photographers, it’s also my birthday!  i can’t imagine a better time–hanging with others that love photography as much as i do, mind melding creative time, and good friends.  this is going to be a great quick trip!

obviously, while i’m gone the studio is closed.  please know that i will do my best to return all emails and phone calls on friday feb. 20 when i return.

thanks for understanding and for letting me continue to push myself creatively by learning from the best!
